ABOUT ME
Mission Statement:
I believe that activism and theatre are intertwined and inseparable, and that only by amplifying marginalized people can stories sprout and new art flourish.
Hello! My name is Macy "Max" Kunke, and I am a third-year MFA Stage Management Candidate at the California Institute of the Arts. In the course of my young career, I have been part of over 60 professional and collegiate productions, with more than half of those in management roles. With experience in stage management, varied design and technical work, and the creation of new works, I pride myself on fostering thought-provoking art, and the emotional evolution of both artists and their audiences.

To me, stage management is the act of lifting up those around you into the spotlight, telling stories that not only entertain but inspire and change. By guiding young people in our field to put everything they are into their passions, we all exit the theater as people
inspired to be better; for themselves, for one another, and for the world that we all must live in. A good stage manager supports everyone they encounter, ultimately bettering their team, their audience, and themselves.

After graduate school, I aspire to teach stage management at the colligate level: to inspire your stage managers the way I too was inspired.
When I'm not working on a production, I liked to spend my free time playing Dungeons and Dragons and writing plays, science fiction, or fantasy stories. Outside of these hobbies, I play Jedi Survivor, World of Warcraft, Assassin's Creed, and of course, Stardew Valley and the Sims. I love plants, the color orange, and I am definitely a cat person!
